Hey, Affordable Concrete Construction By Fleming!

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your search results on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at a standard Google search and how the GMB's show up.

Then, we'll see how your search results can change, depending on where you are around town.

And then, we'll take a look at how the top competition is showing up around Naperville.

To get started, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services near Naperville, Illinois." If you do see any ads, they're going to be above this map. In this section, these ads get about 5 to 15% of the traffic coming to this page. This next section is what's called a Map Pack.

This is where the Google My Business Listings are and they get about 60 to 70% of that traffic. And below the map pack, we've got organic search results. This is what people normally think of as a Google search and they get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left. And when I talk about web traffic, I'm really just like foot traffic.

It kind of boils down to getting eyes on your phone number if you think of someone walking past, your sign or walking past a truck out on a job. You really want people who are looking for concrete services to pick up the phone and call you. So that you can get out more bids which result in more jobs and the ability to grow your business and support your employees.

With that in mind, you can really see why these GMB's are getting the majority of that traffic because Google's making it easy the phone number is right up front. And there's also a couple other metrics like reviews that help people hit that button, make the call, and connect with you as the concrete contractor.

You'll notice that there's three GMB's listed, these would be number 1, 2, and 3 on a larger list. To get to number 4, you have to hit this "View All" and scroll down. A lot of people don't make it this far because of a concept called being above the fold. If you think back to having a bunch of letters to read when that was a more common correspondence.

Most of what I get now is spam. But I have a limited amount of text to read on an envelope or in the initial part of a letter before I have to decide whether or not I'm going to unfold the entire thing. In the same way, these top GMB's are above the fold. There's a limited amount of information and a lot of people take that information, make the call, and they don't bother to unfold the entire list.

If you're stuck at number 4 or 5, you're missing out on a lot of that traffic. And of course, the further down you go, the harder it is to get those phone calls, especially if you're on page 2. So that's a little bit about how these GMB's are showing up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to show you a tool that's called a Heat Map.

This is pulling the same data that we were taking a look at earlier but it's overlaying it across different locations around town. So, to explain this, I'm going to zoom in and you can see that this dot is connected to a specific geographical location. You can imagine that if you were in this park.

The way to think about this is that if you are in that park doing a Google search, just like what we looked at. Google is going to locationally tag you as someone in this area and they're going to give you a special list of GMB's. And on that list this, business Bud's Concrete is number one on that list.

On the other hand, if we go across town to a different circle, we get a different geographical location. Maybe, you're in Washington Park this time doing. You could do that exact same Google search could be word for word. And on that list of phone numbers, list of GMB's Google is going to say that Bud's Concrete is number eight on that list.

Now that you know that information, you can kind of zoom out and say "Okay! Being number one can make a big difference between being number eight in terms of getting that phone call." A lot of people don't realize that you're listing, what can affect your business can vary by even a couple miles. This is within 10 miles, 8 to 10.

And if you don't realize, this you might get caught up in an area where you're number on. If this is where you're doing all your searching, you are going to be unaware that you're missing out on the opportunity to get all of these business owners, residences who are looking for that top concrete contractor.

You're not really showing up as that to them, so this is where you're at currently. Next, we're gonna take a look at your specific Heat Map and just see how you're doing in this same area, alright? Here, we've got Affordable Concrete Construction By Fleming. This is Heat Map, you to get started with just taking a look at this.

Of course, the first thing we want to find is where that green is if you've got some and that's looks like you're doing great in these areas. Of course, that green 1, 2, and 3 means that we're above the fold, getting the majority of those phone calls so that's awesome! And then, of course, the next tier is these kind of single digits in the yellow to really light orange.

And that's the next tier below the fold, you're going to capturing a fraction of the traffic that decides to stop and get the full list. And then, of course, what we really want to avoid are these really dark angry reds. The 19's, 18's, 20's, where you're kind of buried on that second page and you know? Red kind of means that you're dead in the water.

It's one way I like to think about it and just to mention here, you know? This Heat Map cuts off. So, I don't know if you kind of pick up and have a lot more green going on or what's happens on kind of once we get onto this line of 52. If you do want a different Heat Map where that's more centralized to where you have that typically, you know?

You've got a single influence that spreads out and so let me know. This is where Affordable Concrete is currently. Next, I'd like to show you a different Heat Map. This one is of a competitor and it just shows an interesting phenomenon that I call the gradient when it comes to Heat Map.

And essentially, the idea is that when you're kind of counting how much distance there is between your number 1 and your number 20. Here, we've got one 2, 3 to 4. These are pretty much the same area, so we've kind of got four spaces away and it's a way to kind of. Essentially, the idea is that you're not just looking at green as your target.

We want to see just a general expansion of that influence that recognition that Google has. That you are the concrete king in this area even when it's slightly watered down here, you know? It's better to be single digits than double digits. To flip back again, you know? If we can kind of push this and get that gradient, so it's a little closer to, you know?

That 4 or 5 spot, until, you can get to these really deep angry reds, that's be great! Now, you might be wondering where Steady Calls, my company fits in. At Steady Calls, we remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific area by servicing your Google My Business Listing.

You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind. I know I'm not the biggest fan of different social events and I need whether it's a sticky note at the office or texts throughout the day. I need that consistent reminder before I'll actually take action and Google's the same way.

What we do at Steady Calls is we go into these specific locations around the web and post the equivalent of sticky notes for Google to remind them of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific area. Yeah, that's how we fit in. I really appreciate the time you took in watching this video.

If you'd like to schedule a time to talk with myself or someone else from my team, you can click the link that's below this video. There's also a complimentary Heat Map, so you can jump in and see how your own business is doing. If you don't see your business up here, you can jump to it using this scroll box feature.

You can also take a look at how your competition is doing and how you stack up just to get that big picture view, so you know what you're dealing with in this specific area. I really appreciate the time. This is Eric with Steady Calls.
