This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to make this short video to make sure that you're maximizing the impact of your Google My Business Listing.

In this video, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google search, Google listing.

And then, how your business research results changes, depending on where you are around town in the Lafayette area. 

Then, we'll take a look at how the top competition shows up all throughout the Lafayette Service area for concrete. This is a normal Google search. For specific keywords related to your industry, "Concrete Services Near Me" is the most searched phrase on Google for concrete contractors, so I typed in"Concrete Services Near Me."

I put in Lafayette Louisiana just because I'm actually located in Iowa. I need this in order to trigger the locational tag that's going to pull up Google My Business or GMB's. So, a couple things to point out oftentimes, you'll find some ads here that Google is pushing out. These ads often get 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic.

And by traffic, I'm talking about people who are looking for concrete services and are navigating to Google and are looking for a phone number to call or a website to click on to get more information. So, about at most 15% of the traffic goes to ads. And the next section here is called the Map Pack, this gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic.

And then, the rest of the traffic goes to organic results here that would be websites. That Google's Algorithm has deemed very useful for the people who are searching for concrete services. Here, we've got Home Advisor that has some leads for potential clients and then a few concrete contractor websites, as well.

To focus on the map pack here, I want you to notice that these top three businesses have the phone numbers right there in front of you, these top three you get about. As I said 70% of the traffic or 70% of the traffic goes to this map pack area and these three get the majority of it because people don't have to do much work.

Google makes it easy here. They have reviews if those reviews are available. Even though number three here is the third ranked business, you know? These reviews because potential clients can see all three at once. They kind of have it levels the playing field where it doesn't really matter if you're number 1, 2, or 3.

Once you're in this zone, you have the ability to convince people to pull out their phones and type your number. And that of course results in more opportunity to submit bids on potential jobs, and the more ability to close jobs, and provide for your family. So, this "View All" button is what we call these, three in the map pack would be above the fold.

And, if you hit "View All," you would see all of the GMB's that are below the fold. Here, you might find yourself in this list and this would be the next section that has a chance to get those phone calls from people who are looking for your services. And then, you can even have multiple pages beyond these top 10, 10 to 15 GMB's.

So that's an overview of a normal Google search. This is a Heat Map, it's a tool that gives you a visualization of how your Google My Business Listing is doing all throughout town. If we think back to that normal Google search, you can think of this Heat Map as a collection of multiple searches.

Each one of these circles represents a Google search at a this specific location in the area. The number is the ranking of Barry Concrete at that location using that search. So, if we zoom in to Maurice here. If you had someone who lives in Maurice and is looking for a concrete contractor to partner with, maybe for a residential job, or a patio, and they search for "Concrete Services Near Me."

Google is going to say "Hey, Barry Concrete is number five on that GMB list!" Whereas, if we go to a different location say, maybe Woodvale Elementary School needs some maintenance work done on sidewalks or some other hardscape around the school. They'll be doing a search for "Concrete Services Near Me" using the exact same keywords and here.

In this case, Barry Concrete is showing up as number one. If we zoom back out, this gives you a quick visualization of where you are showing up very strong, you know? That 1, 2, and 3, means that you're up in the map pack, and you don't need that secondary click, and you're, therefore, automatically kind of getting that path of least resistance.

Anyone who's scrolling past is going to see your phone number which results in more opportunities to call and more opportunities to send out bids and land jobs. Whereas, when we're talking about 5, 6, and 7, that's going to be below the fold and there's going to be need to be a secondary click.

This map pack gives you a quick bird's eye view of how you're doing about town and there is some room for improvement. To take a look at where you could be in the future, you know? You've got a lot of 1, 2, and 3 spots on the North side here, which is great. That's going to get you a lot of traffic and a lot of calls.

But in order to maintain this dominance, you know? We really want to keep pushing to keep say, you know? If we take a look, so I can click on the specific location and see that. Hey, Barry Concrete is number 2 here and number 1. MC Concrete Work is just beating you out at this specific location as number 1 to number 2.

You can kind of see the same competition is pushing for these specific spots: MC Concrete Work and Sickle Concrete. So, in order to show you a vision for the future, you know? We want to really push this to be ones all across the board and just remind Google that you are the concrete kings of the Lafayette area.

And don't let these people who are kind of pushing knocking on the door and pushing for those top slots to knock you down below the fold. Because that's really going to be a big jump when it comes to keeping those Steady Calls coming in.
