This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to show you how to maximize your Google My Business Listings.

First, we're going to talk about how your business shows up in a normal Google search and Google My Business Listing.

Then, we'll look at how your business search results change, depending on where you are around town.

Then, we're going to see how the top competition shows up around Mobile.

This is a typical Google search. I've typed in "Concrete Services" in order to trigger the local business listings and I've also typed in "Mobile Alabama" because I'm currently in Iowa. So, I need to tell Google that this is location specific to Mobile. I want to draw your attention to a couple things.

First, there are none showing here, but often there'll be some ads above the map view here. And these ads get about 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic that go to Google to find concrete contractors. And when I say traffic, you can kind of think of how foot traffic passed your store or passed your truck on a job.

That would be foot traffic that is putting eyeballs on your phone number. Here, we have web traffic where people are going to Google to find specific numbers to call after the ads. There's the map pack which is those top 1, 2, and 3, actually, hold up this one. This top GMB here is an ad like what we were talking about.

But typically, they'll be the top three GMB's are being shown here and the map pack gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic that is going to this Google search. And the remaining 20 to 30% percent of traffic will go to these organic search results here. That would be websites that Google is crawling for keywords to focus back on the map pack.

I want to draw your attention to this "View All" button. This is a differentiation that we like to call being above the fold versus below the fold. If you think back to getting snail mail and I often get still get lots of spam. I have a very limited number of words that I'm looking at on a physical envelope in order to decide if it's worth my time to open it up, unfold it, and see the full page.

When I talk about being above the fold, I'm talking about these GMB's. The top 1, 2, and 3 that are above the fold, you'll notice that they have phone numbers out here already or an address here. So, because they're above the fold, this phone number is out in the open and anyone who is looking for concrete contractors can call that number directly.

Whereas, if you're below the fold, you need to have the searcher click on this secondary page to get the full list of Google My Business Listings. And then, there's even a second page, which if you're kind of if you're stuck on the second page, good luck! It's unlikely that someone's going to really click through three pages if they find what they're looking for, which is phone numbers right from the map pack here.

So that's the normal Google My Business search, how your business would show up in a typical search. What we're looking at in this screen is what's called a Heat Map. I'm not sure if you've seen this before. It's a specialized tool that pairs with the normal Google my business list of phone numbers that we were looking at in the previous screen.

This Heat Map is pulling in at each one of these circles. It's as if there is someone in this specific location of Melrose in this example who is searching for "Concrete Services Near Me. And Google is serving them up a list of 1 through 3 in the map pack and then below the fold, there would be like 4 through 10.

And then, clicking on off to the second and third pages, you'd get the full 20 plus Google businesses that are in Google's Archive. If you are near Melrose, doing that search, then Bayou Concrete LLC is number one on that list. A lot of people don't realize that ranking that number at which you are from the top changes, depending on where you are around a general area.

For instance, if you are in this region by Mobile River, you are going to be searching Bayou Concrete LLC is going to show up as number 8 on your list using the exact same Google search same words, and everything. If you have this big picture of how you're doing all throughout town, that's going to help you realize where you're doing very, very well in the 1, 2, and 3.

In the map pack above the fold where you're doing okay with, you know? It kind of depends on someone clicking below the fold, but your right. Like number 5 would be pretty comparable to number 4, 6, 7. These are all kind of in the same zone of having the ability for to catch someone's eye with your phone number and get that call. So the more green that we can make turn this map pack, then the easier it is to get those phone calls coming in.

Which means, more bids coming out and ultimately more jobs and money coming in allowing you to provide for your family and support your employees. As you can see from this Heat Map, Bay Concrete has a very strong presence with a lot of green all along this half, and even on the weak half there really isn't a complete drop off. You're still getting these 6, 7, 8, and all of this would still be just below the fold.

And you have the opportunity if someone is really trying to do an in-depth, maybe they have a policy to get 4 to 5 bids. They're going to click below the fold anyway or depending on the top competition. They might not find what they're looking for and they would be able to see your phone number from here.

So yeah, if you've got a lot of green with this 1, 2, and 3, you're really capturing a lot of that 60 to 70% of total traffic just by being able to rank in these Google My Business local lists.
