This is Eric from Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at how a business shows up in a normal Google search.

Then, we'll see how that business search result change, depending on where you are around town.

And finally, we'll see how the top competition is showing up around Topeka.

To start, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services Near Me Topeka, Kansas." If you see any ads, they'll show up above this map area. These get 5 to 15% of the traffic of people going to this page for concrete services. This map pack area gets about 60 to 70% of that traffic, and then these organic search results get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left.

And when I talk about web traffic, just like foot traffic. You can think of it as getting eyes on your phone number as people who walk past your shop or a truck out on a job who are looking for. If they're looking for concrete services, they're going to pick up the phone and call and that's what we want the map pack area.

If we take a look at these businesses, specifically, you can see why they do so well. Because Google is really making it easy for people to pick up the phone and call the phone number is right up front. There's also other information like how often they're open and reviews, as well. So that allows people to easily pick one of these top three, and roll into a phone call, and then move on with their day.

So that's why they get that 60 to 70%. These are the Google My Business Listing. This is GMB number 1, 2, and 3. If you do wanna see number 4, you have to hit this "View all" button and there's number 4, 5, and so on. A lot of people don't get this far just because the effort it takes to hit that button can make it harder for people, you know?

If you're intending to get four phone numbers and three are right there, you might just grab those and move on. And this illustrates a concept called being above the fold. So, there's a limited amount of text that people read before they open the envelope and read the full letter. And that idea of a folded letter is what I'm talking about.

When I'm talking about being above the fold. In this case, this "View all" button it refers to the fold because it's hiding the majority of the information. So, the people who are above the fold get read, and therefore, get more phone calls because they're not hidden. They're open to anyone who's scrolling past and that means they collect the majority of the phone calls that are going to this full list of GMB's.

So that's how these Google Businesses, Google My Business Listing show up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to take a look at a Heat Map. Now, this is a special tool that pulls that same data that we were just taking a look at, but it overlays it on a locational grid. You can see here, we've got Topeka and the surrounding area and what this Heat Map is saying is.

Well, I will zoom in and kind of explain what's going on here. We've got a specific area around Topeka and you can imagine that there are residences and businesses that are in this grid point and people who are in this grid. If they go to Google and do an internet search are going to get a list of phone number.

A list of GMB's that we were just taking a look at. And on that list, whoever is the GMB listed up here in this case, Conroy Contractors. What this Heat Map is saying is that Conroy Contractors is number 2 on that list for this specific area. If we move over one grid point, this is a different location, and if someone's instead of, yeah!

This could be a residence on, maybe Southwest Uriah and this person is going to Google. They could be doing the exact same Google search "Concrete Services Near Me" and they're going to get a different list of GMB's. Because Google is making this very, very hyper local to this grid point.

Once you know that this list can change even over just a couple miles, you can see this full picture one more time. And especially, given the percentages, we talked about earlier and that concept of being above the fold. You can see that some of these locations are just automatically going to get more phone calls from Google than others.

You can imagine the difference between that being up in the map pack with a 2 and being below the fold where your phone number is hidden to the vast majority of people at number 7. So that's how a Heat Map works. Next, I'd like to get into your specific Heat Map. Ben Schreiner Concrete Company, this is your GMB Heat Map.

It's looking pretty good. I usually start with where you're doing well and I define that by these 1, 2, and 3 spots. You really starting to collect a lot of this top level space in these specific areas on Google, which is awesome! Your focus is probably going to be more on getting these second level GMB's.

What I mean by that is really this 4 through 10. Area 4 through 8 is looks like the lowest as far as this grid goes getting these specific areas flipped up into the map pack. To do that, I want to show you one of the tools. We can do with a Heat Map is take a look at your top competitors in a certain space.

So, for instance, here, I can click on this 8 and pull up a list of everybody who's ahead of you in this particular space. So, for instance, here, we can see the top-ranked GMB here is not really able to extend that influence very far and moving on. Number two is probably a bigger competitor to you because number two on that in that particular area where you're weak is also pretty strong around here.

He's going to be harder to move into that particular level, but in general, being able to I'll just flip back to your map so we can take a look being able to move into. Especially, these fours is important because of this jump from that first level. Getting the vast majority of the phone calls to the next level down where your number is hidden below the fold.

You just don't have the opportunity to even throw your hat in the ring because nobody is asking for those bids just because your number is hidden. When it comes to, I kind of started with number eight, but we probably want to take the easy ones that are just on the edge with these number fours.

Focus on that and really see that boost in calls that come from going from number 4 to number 3. At this point, you're probably wondering where Steady Calls fits in. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific location.
