Hi, Braswell Concrete!

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your Google My Business Listing.

First, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google listing.

Then, I've got a tool that gives some insight on how your business search results show up all throughout town.

And then, we'll take a look at how some of your top competition shows up around Montgomery.

This is a pretty simple Google search, I'm sure you've seen it before. "Concrete Services Near Montgomery Alabama," I put in city and state because I'm out of state in Iowa. So, this kind of triggers Google's locational tag, you don't need to do this. If you want to follow along or do this on your own time, "Concrete Services Near Me" should get the same results.

I want to point out a couple things. First, if there are ads, they'll be above this map pack here and these ads get about 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic. And when I talk about web traffic, you can think of that as eyeballs on your phone number. People who are going to Google to search for "Concrete Services Near Me" are looking for those phone numbers to call.

So that they can get bids and do research on jobs that they need to work with a contractor on. These ads get about 5 to 15% of that traffic and this map pack which is the top three GMB's or Google My Business Listings gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic. These organic ranked websites below get what's left 20 to 30%.

But I want to talk more about the Google My Business side of things. You could notice that these top three are laid out in such a way that it Google makes it very easy for people who are doing this search to find the phone numbers. They're right there and there's also good information that people use to compare with reviews here.

You might say "Well, okay! If they're really looking at 5 stars, maybe 5 is better than 3." So, you'll call these guys first then number 1, then number 3 with this map pack. This "View All" button represents something that I call being above the fold. If you think about I get a lot of spam mail, just in my physical box and with an envelope.

You have a limited amount of text to read before you have to make a decision on a certain action in my case with snail mail. It's to decide whether to open the envelope and unfold the entire contents to read the full letter. And in the case of the person looking for concrete services, their decision is to click on this to see everything that's below the fold which is the full list of Google My Business Listings here, and it even continues on to page 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on.

Being above the fold is a big advantage because your phone number is out in the open for everyone who's scrolling past to see. So, there's less opportunity for people to click away here. If someone sees a couple phone numbers, maybe they've got time for a couple phone calls. And then, they'll move on without clicking and expanding being below the fold.

So that's a pretty standard Google My Business Listing from a Google search. What I have next is what's called a Heat Map which is a way to see how that same Google search results. How those results change, depending on where you are around town. To explain this further, I'm going to zoom in this is a grid.

With a lot of different circles and each circle represents a location around Montgomery. If you think about someone who's living on Vaughn Road here and needs to get some concrete work done, maybe a residence putting in a patio or fixing a sidewalk. They're going to go to Google to try to find a list of phone numbers.

And on that list of phone numbers, just like what we took a look at ourselves, Braswell Concrete is number 16 on that list. On the other hand, if we go to the other side of town to a different region, we could have somebody who's living on Old Selma Road. Joe on Old Selma has the exact same issues trying to get some concrete work done, needs a list of numbers.

And the list that Google gives Joe is the is actually different. A lot of people don't realize that list changes even across one city. And on this list, Braswell is number 1, so you can see how doing. Just one Google search can be a little misleading because you're not seeing the full picture of where you're ranking all the way through a service area.

In the case of Joe versus the person on number 16, which region is more likely to give you a call based on the Google search? Well, of course, we'd say the green. That's why we pegged it as green here because the higher up on your rankings, the better it is. Especially, these 1, 2, and 3 spots because they are above the fold like I talked about.

This is a great way to see how you're doing around a specific area. Next, I want to take a look at some of the other features on the Heat Map that lets you see about what your competition is doing. So, you're a lot stronger on the East side here with a lot of 1's, 2's, and 3's. But some of these weaker areas, I can actually click on the circle and then see who your top competitor is in this space.

This map is no longer your company, but this would be every listing of some of these competitors. So, this is a great way to see how people are doing ranking against your spot and it kind of gives you an idea on how to move into some of these areas. So, for instance, if we flip back to being able to flip some of these yellows, and oranges, and reds to get closer to the green is going to just expand the number of eyeballs that are on your phone number.

And of course, you need people to call you before you can send out bids and you need to send out bids before you can get jobs back. It's all related to kind of increasing that bottom line and enabling your business to grow. As well as, enabling you to support your family and support your employees.

You might be wondering how Steady Calls fits in. We remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific locations. If you think of Google as a forgetful spouse, I am the forgetful one in my relationship, so I often. If there's something coming up in a couple weeks, I need multiple reminders and constant whether that's texts or sticky notes that I can kind of keep at my office just continual nudges that.
