This is Eric with Steady Calls.
I wanted to make this short video to make sure that you're maximizing the impact of your Google My Business Listing.
In this video, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google search, Google listing.
And then, how your business research results changes, depending on where you are around town in the Lafayette area.
Then, we'll take a look at how the top competition shows up all throughout the Lafayette Service area for concrete. This is a normal Google search. For specific keywords related to your industry, "Concrete Services Near Me" is the most searched phrase on Google for concrete contractors, so I typed in"Concrete Services Near Me."
I put in Lafayette Louisiana just because I'm actually located in Iowa. I need this in order to trigger the locational tag that's going to pull up Google My Business or GMB's. So, a couple things to point out oftentimes, you'll find some ads here that Google is pushing out. These ads often get 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic.
And by traffic, I'm talking about people who are looking for concrete services and are navigating to Google and are looking for a phone number to call or a website to click on to get more information. So, about at most 15% of the traffic goes to ads. And the next section here is called the Map Pack, this gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic.
And then, the rest of the traffic goes to organic results here that would be websites. That Google's Algorithm has deemed very useful for the people who are searching for concrete services. Here, we've got Home Advisor that has some leads for potential clients and then a few concrete contractor websites, as well.
To focus on the map pack here, I want you to notice that these top three businesses have the phone numbers right there in front of you, these top three you get about. As I said 70% of the traffic or 70% of the traffic goes to this map pack area and these three get the majority of it because people don't have to do much work.
Google makes it easy here. They have reviews if those reviews are available. Even though number three here is the third-ranked business, you know? These reviews because potential clients can see all three at once. They kind of have it levels the playing field where it doesn't really matter if you're number 1, 2, or 3.
Once you're in this zone, you have the ability to convince people to pull out their phones and type your number. And that of course results in more opportunity to submit bids on potential jobs, and the more ability to close jobs, and provide for your family. So, this "View All" button is what we call these, three in the map pack would be above the fold.
And, if you hit "View All," you would see all of the GMB's that are below the fold. Here, you might find yourself in this list and this would be the next section that has a chance to get those phone calls from people who are looking for your services. And then, you can even have multiple pages beyond these top 10, 10 to 15 GMB's.
So that's an overview of a normal Google search. I want to show you this visual of your Google My Business Listing throughout the Lafayette area. This is called a Heat Map and it pulls the same data that we were taking a look at in terms of the top three, and top 10, and top 20 Google My Business Listings under the search term "Concrete Services Near Me."
This is a way to tie those searches to specific locations. A lot of people have the misconception that the way Google My Business Listings show up for you is the same as they do for people across town, or in the North, or the South of Lafayette, and that's not true! For instance, if we zoom in to this specific area, may potentially someone at Hilcorp Energy may need maintenance concrete work done and is looking for a concrete service provider.
They'll put that into Google, get a listing like we were looking at earlier. And in this scenario, Cajun Paving and Construction is number one on that Google My Business List. But if we zoom back out and move to a different place, a different part of town, maybe this junction between 7, 19, and 342.
If you have businesses or residences around here who are looking for extra sidewalk work or need something poured, they're going to be looking for concrete services using the exact same terms in Google. And in this scenario, Cajun Paving is number five. So that's what I mean when I'm talking about how you show up around town if we look at this visual.
If you aren't aware that it changes this drastically, you might be in this area and think "Hey! I'm doing great!" But if we really push this area, you realize that "Hey, you know? You're missing out on a lot of calls that could turn into jobs!" If we think back to the map pack where you had 1, 2, and 3 laid out with phone numbers, people can see the phone numbers.
Your number is getting in front of potential clients without them having to click on anything. They don't have to commit until they call your direct line but once you get into this 4 to 5 to 6 range, you're really relying on them clicking to see what's below the fold. So, the vast majority of the traffic that's going to GMB's is going to 1, 2, and 3, and you're missing out.
And then, of course, as you get more orange into 12, 13, 16, you're talking about the second page and you have to rely on potential customers getting past, you know? 11, 10 phone numbers to even get to you and give you the opportunity to bid on jobs. So this is a good way to get a bird's eye view of how you're doing around town and see what areas can improve.
This Heat Map gives a snapshot of where you could be at some point in the future this. As you can see, just based on the colors, there's a lot of green in a very broad area so often. You know it's not too hard to be ranked number one at a very hyper local level. It's a lot harder to be seen as the concrete kings in a very broad all throughout this Lafayette area.
Anyone who's searching for concrete on the North side, you know? It's a bit weaker on the South, but you're still getting into that first section just below the fold. So, there's obviously some room to improvement. Ideally, you're you'd be number ones across the board and you might be wondering how do I shift and push this number four just below the fold into something that's in.
That 1, 2, and 3 spots getting about 60 to 70% of the calls, which translates into bids going out jobs coming in, and more ability to grow your business. And that's where Steady Calls comes in.
