Conroy Contractors, Inc - Topeka KS

This is Eric from Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at how a business shows up in a normal Google search.

Then, we'll see how that business search result change, depending on where you are around town.

And finally, we'll see how the top competition is showing up around Topeka.

To start, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services Near Me Topeka, Kansas." If you see any ads, they'll show up above this map area. These get 5 to 15% of the traffic of people going to this page for concrete services. This map pack area gets about 60 to 70% of that traffic, and then these organic search results get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left.

And when I talk about web traffic, just like foot traffic. You can think of it as getting eyes on your phone number as people who walk past your shop or a truck out on a job who are looking for. If they're looking for concrete services, they're going to pick up the phone and call and that's what we want the map pack area.

If we take a look at these businesses, specifically, you can see why they do so well. Because Google is really making it easy for people to pick up the phone and call the phone number is right up front. There's also other information like how often they're open and reviews, as well. So that allows people to easily pick one of these top three, and roll into a phone call, and then move on with their day.

So that's why they get that 60 to 70%. These are the Google My Business Listing. This is GMB number 1, 2, and 3. If you do wanna see number 4, you have to hit this "View all" button and there's number 4, 5, and so on. A lot of people don't get this far just because the effort it takes to hit that button can make it harder for people, you know?

If you're intending to get four phone numbers and three are right there, you might just grab those and move on. And this illustrates a concept called being above the fold. So, there's a limited amount of text that people read before they open the envelope and read the full letter. And that idea of a folded letter is what I'm talking about.

When I'm talking about being above the fold. In this case, this "View all" button it refers to the fold because it's hiding the majority of the information. So, the people who are above the fold get read, and therefore, get more phone calls because they're not hidden. They're open to anyone who's scrolling past and that means they collect the majority of the phone calls that are going to this full list of GMB's.

So that's how these Google Businesses, Google My Business Listing show up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to take a look at a Heat Map. Now, this is a special tool that pulls that same data that we were just taking a look at, but it overlays it on a locational grid. You can see here, we've got Topeka and the surrounding area and what this Heat Map is saying is.

Well, I will zoom in and kind of explain what's going on here. We've got a specific area around Topeka and you can imagine that there are residences and businesses that are in this grid point and people who are in this grid. If they go to Google and do an internet search are going to get a list of phone number.

A list of GMB's that we were just taking a look at. And on that list, whoever is the GMB listed up here in this case, Conroy Contractors. What this Heat Map is saying is that Conroy Contractors is number 2 on that list for this specific area. If we move over one grid point, this is a different location, and if someone's instead of, yeah!

This could be a residence on, maybe Southwest Uriah and this person is going to Google. They could be doing the exact same Google search "Concrete Services Near Me" and they're going to get a different list of GMB's. Because Google is making this very, very hyper-local to this grid point.

Once you know that this list can change even over just a couple miles, you can see this full picture one more time. And especially, given the percentages, we talked about earlier and that concept of being above the fold. You can see that some of these locations are just automatically going to get more phone calls from Google than others.

You can imagine the difference between that being up in the map pack with a 2 and being below the fold where your phone number is hidden to the vast majority of people at number 7. So that's how a Heat Map works. Next, I'd like to get into your specific Heat Map.
Conroy Contractors, Inc. this is your Heat Map!

So, I want to just jump in and talk a little bit about some of the terminology. We some other things that we think about when it comes to evaluating a Heat Map and coming up with strategy on how to grow and increase your influence around the Topeka area. So, you can see just like I was talking about before.

This is your top spot, this nice green 2 and 3 spots. And even though you don't have any ones, there really isn't a big difference between a 1 and a 3 when it comes to getting those phone calls. And what I mean by that is you're sort of on the same level when people see you in the map pack. They're looking at all three of those phone numbers at the same time and your numbers getting pushed by Google out into the open.

And, anyone who's scrolling past is going to see that and have the opportunity to give you a call. These single-digit yellows 4 through about 10 represent that next level down where you're hidden behind the fold and you aren't getting that majority of the phone calls and these guys. The big jump is from 4 to 3 in terms of boosting the number of calls that you're getting in because of that below the fold concept.

Thinking of this in terms of layers allows you to realize that "Hey! 4 and 6 are pretty on the same level!" Just because when you look at number 4, you're already in that below the fold section and the 6 is below the fold, as well. So, when we look, when I look at a Heat Map, I'm looking at, you know? 4 and 6 as these prime spots where they're much, much better than a 10, 15, 17 because they're in that next level.

We want to be able to go from 15 to 10, so we can get out of kind of the basement here with these double digits where you're on a second page even below the fold or you're just not showing up on these Google searches. So that's a quick look at how you're doing in the Topeka, Kansas area. Next, I want to see where we can kind of take this.

This is one of the top competitors in the space and you can just see by looking at the colors. That a vastly different Heat Map because Ben Schreiner here is able to get up into that top level in the majority of these grid points each location around Topeka where someone could be searching concrete.

He's showing up in that GMB List so you can imagine how your business would change if you're able to double, triple, quadruple the amount of green on this map. Because the green is connected to getting those phone calls which is necessary to send bids out, get jobs back, and ultimately grow your business.

So that's how these Heat Maps are giving us that information and really tracking how we're doing when it comes to moving up the ranks. You're probably wondering where Steady Calls fits in. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific location.

You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind. I'm not the biggest fan of various social events. I need constant reminders whether it's a sticky note at the office or a text throughout the day. Just to make sure that I'm actually taking action whether and RSVPing or just being prepared and Google is the same way.

At Steady Calls, we post the equivalent of sticky notes in these different locations. So that when Google's doing its data crawl over the internet and reading all of this data, they are reminded of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific location. And that's how we can kind of move these single digits up into that map pack area.

And of course, move these double digits into single digits all throughout the area and just grow that influence. I really appreciate the time you took watching this video. If you want to check out the Heat Map, it is linked below. If you don't see your business listed here, you can find it in the scroll box. You can also schedule a call with myself or someone else from my team if you're interested in more information. I appreciate the time! This is Eric with Steady Calls!
