This is Eric from Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at how a business shows up in a normal Google search.

Then, we'll see how that business search result change, depending on where you are around town.

And finally, we'll see how the top competition is showing up around Topeka.

To start, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services Near Me Topeka, Kansas." If you see any ads, they'll show up above this map area. These get 5 to 15% of the traffic of people going to this page for concrete services. This map pack area gets about 60 to 70% of that traffic, and then these organic search results get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left.

And when I talk about web traffic, just like foot traffic. You can think of it as getting eyes on your phone number as people who walk past your shop or a truck out on a job who are looking for. If they're looking for concrete services, they're going to pick up the phone and call and that's what we want the map pack area.

If we take a look at these businesses, specifically, you can see why they do so well. Because Google is really making it easy for people to pick up the phone and call the phone number is right up front. There's also other information like how often they're open and reviews, as well. So that allows people to easily pick one of these top three, and roll into a phone call, and then move on with their day.

So that's why they get that 60 to 70%. These are the Google My Business Listing. This is GMB number 1, 2, and 3. If you do wanna see number 4, you have to hit this "View all" button and there's number 4, 5, and so on. A lot of people don't get this far just because the effort it takes to hit that button can make it harder for people, you know?

If you're intending to get four phone numbers and three are right there, you might just grab those and move on. And this illustrates a concept called being above the fold. So, there's a limited amount of text that people read before they open the envelope and read the full letter. And that idea of a folded letter is what I'm talking about.

When I'm talking about being above the fold. In this case, this "View all" button it refers to the fold because it's hiding the majority of the information. So, the people who are above the fold get read, and therefore, get more phone calls because they're not hidden. They're open to anyone who's scrolling past and that means they collect the majority of the phone calls that are going to this full list of GMB's.

So that's how these Google Businesses, Google My Business Listing show up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to take a look at a Heat Map. Now, this is a special tool that pulls that same data that we were just taking a look at, but it overlays it on a locational grid. You can see here, we've got Topeka and the surrounding area and what this Heat Map is saying is.

Well, I will zoom in and kind of explain what's going on here. We've got a specific area around Topeka and you can imagine that there are residences and businesses that are in this grid point and people who are in this grid. If they go to Google and do an internet search are going to get a list of phone number.

A list of GMB's that we were just taking a look at. And on that list, whoever is the GMB listed up here in this case, Conroy Contractors. What this Heat Map is saying is that Conroy Contractors is number 2 on that list for this specific area. If we move over one grid point, this is a different location, and if someone's instead of, yeah!

This could be a residence on, maybe Southwest Uriah and this person is going to Google. They could be doing the exact same Google search "Concrete Services Near Me" and they're going to get a different list of GMB's. Because Google is making this very, very hyper-local to this grid point.

Once you know that this list can change even over just a couple miles, you can see this full picture one more time. And especially, given the percentages, we talked about earlier and that concept of being above the fold. You can see that some of these locations are just automatically going to get more phone calls from Google than others.

You can imagine the difference between that being up in the map pack with a 2 and being below the fold where your phone number is hidden to the vast majority of people at number 7. So that's how a Heat Map works. Next, I'd like to get into your specific Heat Map.

D T Concrete, this is your GMB Heat Map for this Topeka area.

I want to start by taking a look at where you're really doing well. That would be these green spots. You're in the top tier here. Your phone number is getting pushed out by Google into each one of these people who are searching. In each one of these locations are going to see your phone number and you're going to get the majority of those phone calls in each space.

You can kind of think, you know? Each location is a new ball game where we're competing, trying to get that phone number up into this nice green area because that's gonna maximize your opportunity to get business from Google. The revenue where people who are going to Google to get a concrete contractor to work with.

So that's your first level here. Your top tier GMB's. The next level would be the single-digit yellows kind of 4 through 9 about which indicates you're below the fold. So, your phone number is hidden but you're also not on a second page kind of stuck behind another barrier. And, once you get to these 14 and 13's, you really have to beat out a lot of different GMB's before you even get a shot.

So, this would be your third level where you're kind of buried underneath and people aren't giving you a phone call just because they can't. They haven't gone down that far to see your phone number. So, when you think about these three levels, the difference between a 7 and a 4 so not all that much just because you're in that same general location.

If we flip back to this search "View All," you're still in this location between a 4 and a 7. And, people who are already in this zone are not going to necessarily have a preference for number 4, specifically, you know? You're not going one by one. So that's why we're talking about this in terms of levels where that jump from a 4 to a 3 means way more when it comes to getting that phone call.

Then, a jump from even 9 to a 4 is not going to have nearly as big of an impact as a 4 to a 3. So that's the general idea when I'm talking about moving up in levels rather than specific rankings. Obviously, we have to get, you know? 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 before we can get to a 3 but it's more helpful to focus on these big jumps because that gives us the most bang for our buck when it comes to moving up these Heat Map rankings.

Next, I want to take a look at some of your competitors in the space. So, we can see where we can take this in the future. This guy's got a lot in this top tier just you can tell by looking at the green and even this second tier here. The lowest shown on this entire Heat Map is an 8 which means we can really work with this and push up.

Especially, these 4's make the jump up into number 3's and eventually get to a fully green Heat Map and that's going to be where we're maximizing our opportunity on these GMB's. At this point, you're probably wondering where Steady Calls my company fits in. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific location.

You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind. I'm not the biggest fan of various social events. I need constant reminders whether it's a sticky note at the office or a text throughout the day. Just to make sure that I'm actually taking action whether and RSVPing or just being prepared and Google is the same way.

At Steady Calls, we post the equivalent of sticky notes in these different locations. So that when Google's doing its data crawl over the internet and reading all of this data, they are reminded of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific location. And that's how we can kind of move these single digits up into that map pack area.

And of course, move these double digits into single digits all throughout the area and just grow that influence. I really appreciate the time you took watching this video. If you want to check out the Heat Map, it is linked below. If you don't see your business listed here, you can find it in the scroll box. You can also schedule a call with myself or someone else from my team if you're interested in more information. I appreciate the time! This is Eric with Steady Calls!
