This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google listing.

Then, how your business search results show up around town. A lot of people think that this single Google search shows them the full picture, but it's not true. You need to take a look at the different locations even within one city.

Then, we're going to take a look at how your top competition shows up around the Madison area.

Let's get into it!

I'm sure that you've seen a normal Google search before. What I've done here is typed in "Concrete Services" to trigger concrete contractors and let Google know that I'm looking for this service. And I also put in "Madison Wisconsin" in order to make sure that Google's location is correct because I'm actually in Iowa.

You won't necessarily need to type out the city name in order to get this page. First thing to point out is typically there are sometimes there are ads above this map and these ads tend to get about 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic. And by traffic, I mean people who are going to Google. Clicking onto Google, and then clicking off to find different websites, and that would be web traffic.

You can think of it in relationship to foot traffic, you know? People who are going out there seeing your signs, seeing your number on a truck or a physical billboard. This web traffic is looking for a number to call to get a concrete job done. The next section is what's called the map pack.

This is the top three Google My Business Listing. And this is presented here with phone numbers that make it easy to for a potential customer to call and also reviews. So that you can compare how they're doing. This number and prevent parentheses is the number of reviews. And then, the last section would be the organic search results.

If we think about ads getting 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic, this GMB will get about 60 to 70% of the traffic and that leaves around 20% for 20 to 30% for these organic search results. To focus again on the GMB, I wanna point out the concept that's called being above the fold. If you think back to getting snail mail letters.

I still get a lot of spam. They're folded in envelopes and you have a specific amount of information that is given to you in order for you to decide if it is worth your time to open it up and unfold the entire letter. So this, in this scenario, when we say above the fold. I mean these top three GMB's number 1, 2, and 3 are going to be above the fold and if someone doesn't, you know?

If they call these three numbers and nobody picks up, they might say "Okay! I'm gonna click and find somebody who can answer my call!" These would be below the fold GMB's and then ultimately, you have multiple pages where these numbers keep going up until you encompass all the Google listings.

Google is ranking these GMB's and serving them up and saying "Hey, you know these are the kings of the concrete in the Madison Wisconsin area!" and these are the ones that you want to call. What we're looking at right here is what's called a Heat Map. This is a tool that pulls in the Google My Business Listing data that we were looking at earlier in a normal Google search.

But it overlays it on a grid that is tagged to specific locations around the Madison service area here. For instance, if we zoom in to this specific location, you can think of this as someone who say lives on Cleveland Road is looking to get some concrete work done. Goes to Google types in "Concrete Services Near Me."

And Google serves up a map pack 1, 2, 3 and a below the fold option where they can get a full list of 1 through 20 plus businesses. And on that list for the resident in, say, Sally in Cleveland Road. She's going to see that DM Concrete is number one on that list if we flip it to the opposite side of town.

Now, we've got somebody who's on Stonedale Road, and you know? Joe on Stonedale is needing the similar service done. Goes to Google types in word-for-word the exact same Google search and on that list of GMB's 1, 2, 3. And then, below the fold for five, DM is number five on that list.

So, this tool really gives you a good big picture view of what a lot of people don't realize and that is that your GMB list ranking which we were kind of looking at, you know? 1, 2, and 3 get the large majority of those phone calls. Your listing does change based on where you are, you know? North, South, East, West of the city.

Just having this big picture view can really impact what you end up doing because you know where to focus results. Because if you want to grow, you want to get more eyeballs on your phone number via Google. And that means flipping these 4's, 5's, and 6's into 1's, 2's, and 3's so that you can get above the fold.

And then, of course, when you're talking about double-digits here, you're really on even that second page of GMB's, which means you're buried even further if you think about the foot traffic concept, you know? You're not on the side of the highway, you are in a couple alleyways where people have to really make multiple choices to get past your sign, and find your number, and give you a call.

This Heat Map shows you a snapshot of where DM Concrete is in the Google My Business Rankings now. Next, I'd like to show you an example of a Heat Map that shows where DM Concrete can be with some work. So this would be an example of a Heat Map that is really doing well in the Madison Area.

This grid is the exact same as the one that we were looking at earlier. And here, we see, yeah, a lot of green, right? 1, 2's, and 3's, that would be all above the fold. So, the concrete company of Madison Wisconsin is really showing Google that it is the king of the entire region even this little four here, you know?

You're almost there to getting pushed over into the map pack. So, when you think about that statistic of about 60 to 70% of the eyeballs that are looking for phone numbers are going to be fed this number 1, 2, or 3 listing without with very little friction. You're going to get a lot more calls.

And the more calls you get, the more bids you can send out and the more jobs that you can get to take home. So, you might be wondering how does Steady Calls fit in.
