Hey, Griggs Benny!

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to show you how to maximize your Google My Business Listings.

First, we're going to talk about how your business shows up in a normal Google search and Google My Business Listing.

Then, we'll look at how your business search results change depending on where you are around town.

Then, we're going to see how the top competition shows up around Mobile.

This is a typical Google search. I've typed in "Concrete Services" in order to trigger the local business listings and I've also typed in "Mobile Alabama" because I'm currently in Iowa. So, I need to tell Google that this is location specific to Mobile. I want to draw your attention to a couple things.

First, there are none showing here but often there'll be some ads above the map view here and these ads get about 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic that go to Google to find concrete contractors. And, when I say traffic, you can kind of think of how foot traffic passed your store or passed your truck on a job.

That would be foot traffic that is putting eyeballs on your phone number here. We have web traffic where people are going to Google to find specific numbers to call. After the ads, there's the map pack which is those top 1, 2, and 3. Oh, actually, hold up, this 1. This top GMB here is an ad like what we were talking about.

But typically, they'll be the top three GMB's are being shown here and the map pack gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic that is going to this Google search and the remaining 20 to 30% of traffic will go to these organic search results here. That would be websites that Google is crawling for keywords.

To focus back on the map pack, I want to draw your attention to this "View All" button. This is a differentiation that we like to call being above the fold versus below the fold. If you think back to getting snail mail and I often get still get lots of spam. I have a very limited number of words that I'm looking at on a physical envelope in order to decide if it's worth my time to open it up, unfold it, and see the full page.

So, when I talk about being above the fold, I'm talking about these GMB's. The top 1, 2, and 3 that are above the fold. You'll notice that they have phone numbers out here already or an address here. So, because they're above the fold, this phone number is out in the open and anyone who is looking for concrete contractors can call that number directly.

Whereas, if you're below the fold, you need to have the searcher click on this secondary page to get the full list of Google My Business Listings. And then, there's even a second page which if you're kind of if you're stuck on the second page, good luck! It's unlikely that someone's going to really click through three pages if they find what they're looking for which is phone numbers right from the map pack here.

So that's the normal Google My Business search, how your business would show up in a typical search. What we're looking at in this screen is what's called a Heat Map. It's a special tool that's been developed to give you a big picture view of the same data that we were looking at in a normal Google search.

It pulls that data into a grid that is based on very hyper local results. Now, what I mean by that, in order to explain what I mean by that, let's zoom in to a specific area. So, here, we've got University of South Alabama Brookley, kind of this local region is part of Mobile. And in this hyper local region, anyone who inputs the search term "Concrete Services" is going to see a list of phone numbers with Griggs Bennie as number two on that list.

On the other hand, if we move out to a different location, maybe someone on Nervius Road is going to type in that exact same Google search word-for-word needs concrete services done. Maybe, needs to put a patio in, they're going to go to Google to find phone numbers to call. And on that list of phone numbers that we were looking at earlier, Griggs Bennie is number 11 on that list.

Now, between number 11 and number 2, that can be a big difference when it comes to people who are the ones who are looking for those phone numbers and want to bid their jobs. Now, if you think back to the statistics there, the 1, 2, and 3 are the ones that are in the map pack getting that 60 to 70% of the traffic to  click on those listings, follow that number, and give them a call.

If we're talking, you know? 4, 5, 6, 7, that's just below the fold. There's going to be a little extra step that really makes it a drop-off in the amount of calls that you're getting from that Google My Business Listing. And then, as you even extend further out into the 18, 19, 20 range, you're really buried on page 2, page 3.

And, it's very difficult to get people to even see your phone number because they have to work their way through 17 other numbers or other concrete contractors in order to get to Griggs Bennie. So that's an overview of the Heat Map and it also shows you where you are at as far as Google My Business Listings throughout the entire Mobile area.

Next, I'd like to show you a vision for where you could be in the future. As you can see from this Heat Map, Bay Concrete has a very strong presence with a lot of green all along this half. And even on the weak half, there really isn't a complete drop-off. You're still getting these 6, 7's, 8's, and all of this would still be just below the fold and you have the opportunity if someone is really trying to do an in-depth.

Maybe, they have a policy to get 4 to 5 bids. They're going to click below the fold anyway or depending on the top competition. They might not find what they're looking for and they would be able to see your phone number from here. So, yeah, if you've got a lot of green with this 1, 2, and 3, you're really capturing a lot of that 60 to 70% of total traffic just by being able to rank in these Google My Business local lists.

Now, you might be wondering how Steady Calls comes in. At Steady Calls, we help companies by servicing your Google My Business Map Listing so that Google knows you as the King of the Mobile Alabama concrete area. Think of Google as a forgetful friend or spouse that you have to keep reminding constantly of say, "You have an anniversary coming up or a big important event!"

You know, just by your relationship with this person, that you need to give them constant reminders and updates, whether that's a text message or sticky notes around their workspace, around the house. Just constantly checking in to make sure that you are top of their mind.

That's what we do with Google. We paste sticky notes all over the area using your map listing, reminding Google who the concrete kings of this Mobile Alabama area are and that's how we can kind of flip these numbers from, yeah, 7 and 8's to 1's, 2's, and 3's. I really appreciate your time.

Please check out the attached Heat Map below for your business and book a call with me or my team to discuss, clarify anything. And yeah, if you follow that link, you should be able to get to a schedule and pick a time that works for you. Thanks and have a great day!
