This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to make this short video to make sure that you're maximizing the impact of your Google My Business Listing.

In this video, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google search, Google listing.

And then, how your business research results changes, depending on where you are around town in the Lafayette area.

Then, we'll take a look at how the top competition shows up all throughout the Lafayette Service area for concrete. This is a normal Google search. For specific keywords related to your industry, "Concrete Services Near Me" is the most searched phrase on Google for concrete contractors, so I typed in"Concrete Services Near Me."

I put in Lafayette Louisiana just because I'm actually located in Iowa. I need this in order to trigger the locational tag that's going to pull up Google My Business or GMB's. So, a couple things to point out oftentimes, you'll find some ads here that Google is pushing out. These ads often get 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic.

And by traffic, I'm talking about people who are looking for concrete services and are navigating to Google and are looking for a phone number to call or a website to click on to get more information. So, about at most 15% of the traffic goes to ads. And the next section here is called the Map Pack, this gets about 60 to 70% of the traffic.

And then, the rest of the traffic goes to organic results here that would be websites. That Google's Algorithm has deemed very useful for the people who are searching for concrete services. Here, we've got Home Advisor that has some leads for potential clients and then a few concrete contractor websites, as well.

To focus on the map pack here, I want you to notice that these top three businesses have the phone numbers right there in front of you, these top three you get about. As I said 70% of the traffic or 70% of the traffic goes to this map pack area and these three get the majority of it because people don't have to do much work.

Google makes it easy here. They have reviews if those reviews are available. Even though number three here is the third-ranked business, you know? These reviews because potential clients can see all three at once. They kind of have it levels the playing field where it doesn't really matter if you're number 1, 2, or 3.

Once you're in this zone, you have the ability to convince people to pull out their phones and type your number. And that of course results in more opportunity to submit bids on potential jobs, and the more ability to close jobs, and provide for your family. So, this "View All" button is what we call these, three in the map pack would be above the fold.

And, if you hit "View All," you would see all of the GMB's that are below the fold. Here, you might find yourself in this list and this would be the next section that has a chance to get those phone calls from people who are looking for your services. And then, you can even have multiple pages beyond these top 10, 10 to 15 GMB's.

So that's an overview of a normal Google search. What we're looking at right now is called a Heat Map. This pulls data from Google My Business Listings and overlays it at location specific areas. So, what I mean by that is you can think of each one of these circles as a location where someone is putting in the same Google search that we were looking at earlier.

For instance, we have a food joint here Broaddus Burger, and say a somebody who's maintaining this facility needs to replace some sidewalk out back. It's a hazard and they need concrete services to do it. They're going to go to Google type in "Concrete Services Near Me" and Port Aggregates is going to be number one on their Google My Business Listing.

However, if we go more North and West, we might be looking at a different location that has a different food place Debbies here, that could be in the same situation. With this very, very similar service, do and type in the exact same Google search. But here, Port Aggregates is number 11 on the rankings.

If you think back to some of those statistics when it comes to the flow of traffic people who are looking for the services that you provide, the flow of traffic is going to go. That the vast majority is going to go to these 1, 2, and 3 spots. And if you are ranked below the fold in 4, 5, 6, 7 all the way up to 10, you are missing out on the ability to get your phone number in front of potential clients.

More green is better when it comes to these kind of overall views. This gives you a big picture idea of where, how you're doing. A lot of people don't realize that it can vary, you know? We're going from 1 to 8 in one grid point here. That's about two and a half miles. So, if you are searching and saying "Hey! I need to see how I'm doing! How I stack up against my competition!"

You might think "Hey! I'm number one and not see the big picture of what's really going on!" Everyone's typically naturally stronger in one area and weaker in the other. So, this is a Heat Map view of how you are showing up around town as is. And next, I'd like to take a look at a different Heat Map.

That kind of gives you a picture of where we can take this if we want to turn this more green. This Heat Map gives a snapshot of where you could be at some point in the future this. As you can see, just based on the colors, there's a lot of green in a very broad area so often. You know it's not too hard to be ranked number one at a very hyper-local level.

It's a lot harder to be seen as the concrete kings in a very broad all throughout this Lafayette area. Anyone who's searching for concrete on the North side, you know? It's a bit weaker on the South, but you're still getting into that first section just below the fold. So, there's obviously some room to improvement.

Ideally, you're you'd be number ones across the board and you might be wondering how do I shift and push this number four just below the fold into something that's in. That 1, 2, and 3 spots getting about 60 to 70% of the calls, which translates into bids going out jobs coming in, and more ability to grow your business, and that's where Steady Calls comes in.
