Rokk Concrete Inc - Topeka KS
This is Eric from Steady Calls.
I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.
First, we're going to take a look at how a business shows up in a normal Google search.
Then, we'll see how that business search result change, depending on where you are around town.
And finally, we'll see how the top competition is showing up around Topeka.
To start, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services Near Me Topeka, Kansas." If you see any ads, they'll show up above this map area. These get 5 to 15% of the traffic of people going to this page for concrete services. This map pack area gets about 60 to 70% of that traffic, and then these organic search results get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left.
And when I talk about web traffic, just like foot traffic. You can think of it as getting eyes on your phone number as people who walk past your shop or a truck out on a job who are looking for. If they're looking for concrete services, they're going to pick up the phone and call and that's what we want the map pack area.
If we take a look at these businesses, specifically, you can see why they do so well. Because Google is really making it easy for people to pick up the phone and call the phone number is right upfront. There's also other information like how often they're open and reviews, as well. So that allows people to easily pick one of these top three, and roll into a phone call, and then move on with their day.
So that's why they get that 60 to 70%. These are the Google My Business Listing. This is GMB number 1, 2, and 3. If you do wanna see number 4, you have to hit this "View all" button and there's number 4, 5, and so on. A lot of people don't get this far just because the effort it takes to hit that button can make it harder for people, you know?
If you're intending to get four phone numbers and three are right there, you might just grab those and move on. And this illustrates a concept called being above the fold. So, there's a limited amount of text that people read before they open the envelope and read the full letter. And that idea of a folded letter is what I'm talking about.
When I'm talking about being above the fold. In this case, this "View all" button it refers to the fold because it's hiding the majority of the information. So, the people who are above the fold get read, and therefore, get more phone calls because they're not hidden. They're open to anyone who's scrolling past and that means they collect the majority of the phone calls that are going to this full list of GMB's.
So that's how these Google Businesses, Google My Business Listing show up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to take a look at a Heat Map. Now, this is a special tool that pulls that same data that we were just taking a look at, but it overlays it on a locational grid. You can see here, we've got Topeka and the surrounding area and what this Heat Map is saying is.
Well, I will zoom in and kind of explain what's going on here. We've got a specific area around Topeka and you can imagine that there are residences and businesses that are in this grid point and people who are in this grid. If they go to Google and do an internet search are going to get a list of phone number.
A list of GMB's that we were just taking a look at. And on that list, whoever is the GMB listed up here in this case, Conroy Contractors. What this Heat Map is saying is that Conroy Contractors is number 2 on that list for this specific area. If we move over one grid point, this is a different location, and if someone's instead of, yeah!
This could be a residence on, maybe Southwest Uriah and this person is going to Google. They could be doing the exact same Google search "Concrete Services Near Me" and they're going to get a different list of GMB's. Because Google is making this very, very hyper-local to this grid point.
Once you know that this list can change even over just a couple miles, you can see this full picture one more time. And especially, given the percentages, we talked about earlier and that concept of being above the fold. You can see that some of these locations are just automatically going to get more phone calls from Google than others.
You can imagine the difference between that being up in the map pack with a 2 and being below the fold where your phone number is hidden to the vast majority of people at number 7. So that's how a Heat Map works. Next, I'd like to get into your specific Heat Map. Hey, you, Rokk Concrete!
This is your GMB Heat Map for this specific area of Topeka, Kansas. I want to start with where you're really doing well. That would be these 1, 2, and 3's in this nice green color. And, of course, this map is cut-off. So, I don't really know if, maybe you've got even more green up to the North here.
That's some of the limitations of what this data in front of me is showing me. But I'm going to focus on the colors where we're seeing and they really break down into three different layers, which I'm going to articulate here. I kind of already talked about this top layer. This gets the majority of those phone calls because your phone number is shown to everybody who's passing by the next layer.
The next level would be about 4 through 9. These single-digit yellows and these get the next level of phone calls these would be just below the fold. So, the people who do end up expanding that and reading the full list are going to see your phone number. And then, the third level would be these double-digits these dark angry reds.
They're not really doing much for you because they're so far down the list. That people don't see that phone number to pick up the phone and call. So, when we think in terms of these levels, we can see that it's more important to move up a level than it is to move up a ranking a single ranking.
What I mean by that is the difference between a 7 and a 4 is not all that much when it comes to the amount of calls you're going to get. And the difference between a 1 and a 3 is not all that much in the difference in the amount of calls you're going to get and that's because of the way Google is laying out each one of these rankings.
When you're looking at number 3, you can see number 1 and vice versa. And when you're looking at number 4, you can see number 7 and back and forth. So, what that means is we really want to focus on these transition points. Going from 4 to 3 is the most important jump. This is going to be the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to moving up the rankings and ultimately taking over the top spots all the way through Topeka Kansas.
Next, I want to show you a top competitors GMB Heat Map. So, we can see some of what we, yeah, where we're really headed with this picture. This guy's got a lot of green going on. If we think of in terms of levels, he's really got no level threes and the majority of the map is that top-level 1, 1 through 3 rankings for this guy.
I'd really same deal in terms of, you know? Whether you're cleaning up these weak spots where you're still being held back your numbers hidden and really getting that dominant green or you're just starting out and you've only got a small patch of green and you're trying to expand. It's really the same game when it comes to each one of these individual locations.
We want to be able to get in there and turn these 4's into 3's, make that jump, and then turn these 8's into 4's. And then, do the same thing, rinse, and repeat. At this point, you're probably wondering where Steady Calls fits in. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific location.
You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind. I'm not the biggest fan of various social events. I need constant reminders whether it's a sticky note at the office or a text throughout the day. Just to make sure that I'm actually taking action whether and RSVP or just being prepared and Google is the same way.
At Steady Calls, we post the equivalent of sticky notes in these different locations. So that when Google's doing its data crawl over the internet and reading all of this data, they are reminded of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific location. And that's how we can kind of move these single digits up into that map pack area.
And, of course, move these double digits into single digits all throughout the area and just grow that influence. I really appreciate the time you took watching this video. If you want to check out the Heat Map, it is linked below. If you don't see your business listed here, you can find it in the scroll box. You can also schedule a call with myself or someone else from my team if you're interested in more information. I appreciate the time! This is Eric with Steady Calls!
