This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you are maximizing your Google My Business search results.

First, we're going to take a look at those search results how they show up in a normal Google search.

Then, we'll see how those search results can change depending on where you are around town.

And finally, we'll take a look at the top competition and how they are showing up around Montgomery.

To start, I just went to Google and put in "Concrete Services Near Montgomery, Alabama." This city-state is a locational tag for me because I'm actually out of state in Iowa. But if you're near Montgomery, all you would need to do is put in "Concrete Services Near Me" to get these same results.

If you do see any ads, they'll be above this map in the very first section and these ads get about 5 to 15% of that web traffic that's coming to this page. The map pack is this area here. This is where the GMBs' are and they get a lot of the traffic about 60 to 70%. And then, the rest go to these organic search results below which is what most people think of when they do a Google search.

This map pack is what I want to focus on because it gets the majority of that traffic. And when I'm talking about web traffic, you can really think of it as eyeballs on your phone number just like foot traffic going past a sign or seeing your number on the side of your truck. That is the same idea here. We want to get that number in front of the people who are looking for concrete services.

So that they'll pick up the phone and call. And, of course, the more calls we get coming in, the more bids we can send out and the more jobs we can close, which impacts that bottom line and allows concrete contractors to grow and support their employees and support their families. So, you can see if you take a look at these top three listings here, one of the reasons why they get the majority of the call or eyeball viewers.

The majority of the traffic go here because Google's making it easy to pick up the phone and call. The phone number is right up front and there's also a couple other metrics like if they're open or not and reviews. That make it easy for people to compare the top three and pick one that they're drawn to and give a call.

Of course, if they are really shopping around, they might call all three of these guys. And if you get anyone who's like my dad, you expand this "View All" and you get all the top 10. This is illustrating a concept that I call being above the fold. If you think back to getting a lot of mail, you have a limited amount of information on a letter envelope to read before you need to make the decision whether or not to open it up and unfold the entire letter.

In a similar manner here, you can think of this 'View All" button as functioning like the fold. Everybody is going to read these top three because Google's pushing them out even if you're scrolling past, trying to find. If you're intending to find an organic search result, you might just stop and hit the button here to just get that direct phone number connection.

But if so, there's kind of a barrier where people have to make that decision to expand. A lot of people don't just because they've got what they're looking for in these top three. It's really if you want to dig in and if you're super analytical like my father, you know? You want to get as much data as possible but even he doesn't really go past this first page.

If you're buried on page 2 or 3, good luck! Next, I'd like to move on to taking a look at how this list of phone numbers can change to do that. I'm going to take a look at what's called a Heat Map. Not sure, if you've seen one of these before but it gives you a big picture view of how that list of numbers is changing depending on specific locations even around the same city.

To explain this, I'll just note that this is Sherman Industries listing on the map. And what this map means is that if someone was in this geographical region, if we just grab a business Auburn University. If someone at Auburn University is doing that same Google search that we just did "Concrete Services Near Me," they're going to get a list of phone numbers of concrete contractors from Google.

And what this Heat Map is saying is that on that list of phone numbers, Sherman Industries is number 4 on that list. So, you're just below the fold. You'd be the first one on my dad's list. But on the other hand, if we go across town and go into a different location, you can see that there's other businesses, you know?

If we're at this Elementary School doing that same, maybe some industrious elementary student is looking for some concrete contractors for a school project. They are going to go to Google, get a list of phone numbers, and on that list of numbers, Sherman Industries is number 20 down. So, this big picture view is really insightful if you don't realize, you know?

It can be very misleading if you are too zoned in or if you're continually. A lot of people know that being ranked on Google is important so they'll do a couple Google searches to find out. But if you're not really covering your entire service area and triggering all those locational triggers, you're not getting that full picture of how you're doing.

This is that bird's eye view of how you're doing. Next, I'd like to take a look at a different company that is provides you a vision of where we can kind of take this map in the future. This is someone who's doing very well on Google My Business Listing in this area, you know? We can- it's the same situation.

Each one of these is a unique list of numbers of phone numbers and this ConCreations business is in the 1, 2, and 3 that map pack area on almost half of the square here, and everyone else is kind of in single-digits with very few of those double-digits. That are kind of encroaching on that page two where, you know?

Where my dad kind of stops his list of data collections. So, the further up you are on that list, you can really get the less analytical people who are just looking for that easy phone number. And as you get into these single-digits and the yellow, you're really below the fold and kind of missing out on the majority of those phone calls.

Now, you might be wondering where Steady Calls fits in. We service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in this area. I know I'm not the biggest fan of various social events even when we were doing those and I need whether it's a sticky note or a text message.
