Hi Taber Builders Inc,
In this short-n-sweet video, you'll learn the level of your Google My Business game faster than you could smooth a driveway with a power screed.

We're as easy to work with as 6in slump. Schedule a call at a time when you're not pouring.

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your search results on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at a standard Google search and how the GMB's show up.

Then, we'll see how your search results can change, depending on where you are around town.

And then, we'll take a look at how the top competition is showing up around Naperville.

To get started, I've gone to Google and typed in "Concrete Services Near Naperville, Illinois." If you do see any ads, they're going to be above this map. In this section, these ads get about 5 to 15% of the traffic coming to this page. This next section is what's called a Map Pack.

This is where the Google My Business Listings are and they get about 60 to 70% of that traffic. And below the map pack, we've got organic search results. This is what people normally think of as a Google search and they get about 20 to 30% or whatever's left.

When I talk about web traffic I'm really just like foot traffic. It kind of boils down to getting eyes on your phone number if you think of someone walking past your sign or walking past a truck out on a job. You really want people who are looking for concrete services to pick up the phone and call you.

So that you can get out more bids, which results in more jobs and the ability to grow your business and support your employees. With that in mind, you can really see why these GMB's are getting the majority of that traffic. Because Google's making it easy the phone number is right upfront.

There's also a couple other metrics like reviews that help people hit that button, make the call, and connect with you as the concrete contractor. You'll notice that there's three GMB's listed, these would be number 1, 2, and 3 on a larger list. To get to number four, you have to hit this "View All" and scroll down.

A lot of people don't make it this far because of a concept called being above the fold. If you think back to having a bunch of letters to read when that was a more common correspondence. Most of what I get now is spam. But I have a limited amount of text to read on an envelope or in the initial part of a letter before I have to decide whether or not I'm going to unfold the entire thing.

In the same way, these top GMB's are above the fold. There's a limited amount of information and a lot of people take that information, make the call, and they don't bother to unfold the entire list. If you're stuck at number 4 or 5, you're missing out on a lot of that traffic.

And of course, the further down you go, the harder it is to get those phone calls, especially, if you're on page 2. So that's a little bit about how these GMB's are showing up in a normal Google search. Next, I want to show you a tool that's called a Heat Map. And this is pulling the same data that we were taking a look at earlier, but it's overlaying it across different locations around town.

To explain this, I'm going to zoom in and you can see that this dot is connected to a specific geographical location. You can imagine that if you were in this Park. The way to think about this is that if you are in that Park, doing a Google search just like what we looked at. Google is going to locationally tag you as someone in this area and they're going to give you a special list of GMB's.

And on that list, this business Bud's Concrete is number one on that list. On the other hand, if we go across town to a different circle, we get a different geographical location. Maybe, you're in Washington Park this time doing. You could do that exact same Google search could be word-for-word.

And on that list of phone numbers, list of GMB's Google is going to say that Bud's Concrete is number eight on that list. And now that you know that information, you can kind of zoom out and say "Okay! Being number one can make a big difference between!" Being number eight in terms of getting that phone call, a lot of people don't realize that you're listing.

What can affect your business can vary by even a couple miles. This is within 10 miles, 8 to 10. And if you don't realize, this you might get caught up in an area where your number one, if this is where you're doing all your searching. You are going to be unaware that you're missing out on the opportunity to get all of these business owners, residences who are looking for that top concrete contractor.

You're not really showing up as that to them, so this is where you're at currently. Next, we're gonna take a look at your specific Heat Map and just see how you're doing in this same area. Nice, so this is the Taber Builders Heat Map. So, just to get started, I want to draw your attention to where all this green is.

This is definitely good! More green is good. That means you're up into the map pack. You're getting the majority of those phone calls. The traffic doesn't have to click anything. They're just scrolling past and they see that phone number and connecting you to, you know? That service that they are looking for.

This is the best-case scenario is to get all these green. And then, the next tier would be if we can kind of get a lot of single-digits. And as you can see, that is not great! We've only got 2. Of course, this Heat Map kind of cuts-off that top edge, so you know? We might be getting a little bit more traction up North here.

And if you do want a different Heat Map that's shifted slightly, I can. Just let me know, we can kind of run that and take care of that way. But that's the concept here is we really want to get to that green and our biggest issue are these very, very angry red kind of double-digit slots. We have to first kind of flip these into those single-digits before we can move them up into the green and it just takes time.

This is a snapshot of where you are at currently. Next, I want to take a look at a different Heat Map that shows where you can take this in the future. This is a competitor who's doing very well in the same grid and I want to draw your attention to a couple things. First, of course, there's more green, which is never hurts.

That's how you can really establish yourself as. The top concrete kings in the area is to get up into the map pack and you're just leveraging so much more influence. But the second thing I want to talk about with this Heat Map is the gradient that we see now. The gradient is going, you know? It can be a color. It can be numerical.

In this case, we're going from green to red and we're also going from number 1 to number 20. So, the idea here is how quickly do we lose this influence of the green the number 1 when we get to this red and number 20. So, if we just grab this number 1, we can kind of walk it down 1, 2, 3, 4, about 3 to 4 circles away.

And then, if we compare that gradient to Taber Builders Inc here, you can see this it's dropping cutting nearly in half where we're really getting buried quickly. So, our first step is to try to increase that gradient and really just slowly chip away until we can get some traction because we need, you know? It's a lot easier to turn a 5 into a 3 than it is to turn a 20 into a 5.

So that's sort of the progression. Now, you might be wondering where Steady Calls my company fits in all of this. At Steady Calls, we remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific area by servicing your Google My Business Listing. You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind.

I know I'm not the biggest fan of different social events and I need whether it's a sticky note at the office or texts throughout the day. I need that consistent reminder before I'll actually take action and Google's the same way. What we do at Steady Calls is we go into these specific locations around the web.

Then, post the equivalent of sticky notes for Google to remind them of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific area. That's how we fit in. I really appreciate the time you took in watching this video. If you'd like to schedule a time to talk with me or someone else from my team, you can click the link that's below this video.

There's also a complimentary Heat Map, so you can jump in and see how your own business is doing. If you don't see your business up here, you can jump to it using this scroll box feature and you can also take a look at how your competition is doing and how you stack up, just to get that big picture view, so you know what you're dealing with in this specific area. Really appreciate the time. This is Eric with Steady Calls!
