Hey, The Concrete Company!

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your opportunity on Google My Business.

First, we're going to take a look at how your business shows up in a normal Google listing.

Then, how your business search results show up around town. A lot of people think that this single Google search shows them the full picture, but it's not true. You need to take a look at the different locations even within one city.

Then, we're going to take a look at how your top competition shows up around the Madison area.

Let's get into it!

I'm sure that you've seen a normal Google search before. What I've done here is typed in "Concrete Services" to trigger concrete contractors and let Google know that I'm looking for this service. And I also put in "Madison Wisconsin" in order to make sure that Google's location is correct because I'm actually in Iowa.

You won't necessarily need to type out the city name in order to get this page. First thing to point out is typically there are sometimes there are ads above this map and these ads tend to get about 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic. And by traffic, I mean people who are going to Google. Clicking onto Google, and then clicking off to find different websites, and that would be web traffic.

You can think of it in relationship to foot traffic, you know? People who are going out there seeing your signs, seeing your number on a truck or a physical billboard. This web traffic is looking for a number to call to get a concrete job done. The next section is what's called the map pack.

This is the top three Google My Business Listing. And this is presented here with phone numbers that make it easy to for a potential customer to call and also reviews. So that you can compare how they're doing. This number and prevent parentheses is the number of reviews. And then, the last section would be the organic search results.

If we think about ads getting 5 to 10 to 15% of the traffic, this GMB will get about 60 to 70% of the traffic and that leaves around 20% for 20 to 30% for these organic search results. To focus again on the GMB, I wanna point out the concept that's called being above the fold. If you think back to getting snail mail letters.

I still get a lot of spam. They're folded in envelopes and you have a specific amount of information that is given to you in order for you to decide if it is worth your time to open it up and unfold the entire letter. So this, in this scenario, when we say above the fold. I mean these top three GMB's number 1, 2, and 3 are going to be above the fold and if someone doesn't, you know?

If they call these three numbers and nobody picks up, they might say "Okay! I'm gonna click and find somebody who can answer my call!" These would be below the fold GMB's and then ultimately, you have multiple pages where these numbers keep going up until you encompass all the Google listings.

Google is ranking these GMB's and serving them up and saying "Hey, you know these are the kings of the concrete in the Madison Wisconsin area!" and these are the ones that you want to call. What we're looking at right now is what's called a Heat Map. This is a tool that pulls data from the Google My Business Listings that we were looking at earlier. One way to think about this is that it is a very local.

Each one of these circles represents a Google search similar to the one that we were examining in the last section. For instance, if we zoom in, oops, zooming in to this area, so it looks like green bush. There might be a resident here that's looking for concrete work done and they go to Google and type in "Concrete Services" and you The Concrete Company is number 1 in this hyper-local space which means that your phone number is going to be seen.

With very little friction, they don't have to click on a below the fold in order to get your information and request a bid. On the other hand, across town here, you know what this hyper-local area. The exact same Google searches word-for-word is going to produce a list of GMB's where The Concrete Company is not number 1.

You're number 4 on that list and you're kind of dependent on number 1, 2, and 3 not providing the customer what they need and they keep click through and find you on that second page. So, be having this big picture view of how you're doing around the entire area, you can kind of see "Hey! You know a little bit weaker up on the North side?" and this gives you a bigger picture of where you can go in the future.

Now that you understand how the Heat Map works, I'd like to show an additional feature. Not only can you get a great snapshot of your Google My Business Listing throughout multiple locations. But you can fixate on one location and see exactly who is outranking you at this specific Google My Business location.

For instance, if we flip the map, this would now be your top competition at these specific locational dots. Now, even though you all do have a lot of number 1's, we want to make sure that stays that way. This map is was taken just at the end of last week and it kind of locks this list in a time stamp but these do kind of shift around.

We've got Casey Concrete kind of coming up right behind you with a lot of these number 2's where you are number 1. So, now, you might be wondering how Steady Calls is involved and how can we help you maintain this dominant grid. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to let Google know that you are the king of the concrete in Madison Wisconsin.

If you think of Google as a forgetful friend or a spouse, you have an event planned, and you have to every time, you have something in the works. You have to continually remind them and say "Hey, just wanted to let you know!" Whether it's an anniversary or a, you know? A get-together in the future, you know?

That with this friend. You have to pull every trick out of the bag, you know? Send texts early, drop sticky notes by their work desk. Yeah, and just make sure that they know what's coming up that's important. That's what Steady Calls does with Google. We give Google reminders and post sticky notes all around the Madison area with your Google My Business Listing.

So that we can let Google know that "Hey, these guys are the king in of concrete in this area!" And that's how Google recognizes and eventually pulls you up the rankings so that you can have a map that looks like this one. And once you're there, you need to continually remind Google and in order to ensure that you maintain your dominance in these top spots.

Yeah, so, I really appreciate your time. Please check out the attached Heat Map below and book a call with me or my team when you're not pouring. You can click the link and find a time that works. Thanks and have a great day!
