Trader Concrete Foundations - Springfield - IL

This is Eric with Steady Calls.

I wanted to shoot this quick video to make sure that you're maximizing your Google My Business opportunity.

First, we're going to take a look at a typical Google search to see where these GMB's are showing up.

Then, we'll see how these search results can change, depending on where you are around the town and in different locations.

Then, we'll see how the top competition is showing up around Springfield.

To get started, I've gone to Google and done "Concrete Services Near Springfield Illinois." If you do see any ads, they're going to be above the map in this location. These ads tend to gets 5 to 15% of the traffic coming to this page. This next section is called the map pack, this gets 60 to 70% of that traffic and these organic search results.

What most people think of as a Google search get about 20 to 30%, depending on how everything breaks down. It's essentially whatever's left. And when I'm talking about web traffic, you can think of it just like foot traffic. It kind of boils down to getting your phone number in front of the people who are looking for concrete services.

So that they can pick up the phone and call. And with that in mind, we can kind of take a look at why this map pack is so effective getting 70% of those people who are looking for concrete contractors. It's because Google's really making it easy to pick up that phone and call.

The phone number is up front for everyone who's scrolling past to see. And if you're on a mobile phone often, there's this number is a button where you can link up your cell phone directly and call at that moment. These guys tend to collect the most attention from people looking for concrete services.

These are the top GMB's number 1, 2, and 3 of these Google My Business Listings. If you want to find number four, you have to click this "View all" and expand and there's number four right there and so on. As you continue going down on this list, eventually, you'll hit a second level where you get to page 2 and 3, 4, 5, 6.

I guess it stops at five in Springfield. The higher up you are on this list, the better you do. But because of something called being above the fold, these top three get the majority of these phone calls. And this concept of being above the fold refers to this "View All" button that we were looking at.

And, it kind of comes from an idea of when you were reading a lot of envelopes letters every single day. The information that's above the fold gets read by everyone because they have to decide whether or not it's an important letter that deserves their full attention or not.

The idea of being above the fold means that everyone who's looking at that letter is going to read it in order to understand what is the contents are. And if you don't find what you need, you're going to open up that letter, unfold it, and see the full text. In this case, the full text is this full list of GMB's and the fold is that button.

We want to be ideally above the fold because that means Google's pushing our phone number out in front of everyone who's scrolling past and it's not hidden behind this button. That requires people to choose to see your phone number and a lot of people just grab the easy number and move on with their day.

That's a typical Google search. Next, I want to show you a tool called a Heat Map. This takes that same search data that we were just looking at a list of GMB's or you can think of it as a list of phone numbers and it lays it out over a specific location. Here, we've got Springfield, and to explain this Heat Map, I'm going to zoom in.

You can see this is a particular location around Springfield. We've got Walmart here looks like the playgrounds. And the way to understand the Heat Map is to think imagine that there's a person in this location. Potentially, at Walmart, maybe picking something up and you're doing this person.

We'll call him, Joe is doing a Google search for concrete services. So that he can get some research done for when he goes back home to actually call. These guys and Google is going to give Joe at Walmart a list of phone numbers based on that Google search "Concrete Services Near Me." Just like we were taking a look at.

And on that list, this particular contractor Slab Jackers Construction is number three on Joe's list. On the other hand, maybe Joe lives a couple miles North right on 124. Oh there, we go another location Belle Terra and goes back home and does a Google search the same word-for-word Google search.

And what this Heat Map is saying is that because of the different location. Google is going to give a different list of Google My Businesses. And on that list, Slab Jackers Construction is number 10. You can see that there's a big change, especially, given that idea of being above the fold versus below the fold.

Slab Jackers Construction has a very good chance of getting that phone call when Joe is at Walmart. But when he's at Belle Terra Farms, that chance of getting that phone call really drops off. He's probably going to call whoever's number 1, 2, or 3 in this location and not call Slab Jackers.

A lot of people don't realize that this Google My Business list can change within only a couple miles. This is an awesome tool to get a bird's eye view of how you're doing in this area. Next, I want to take a look specifically at your business and how you're doing. H
ey, Trader Concrete Foundation! Is I think there's a plural that got cut-off, sorry about that but this is your GMB Heat Map so this is specific to you.

I want to dive in and do a quick analysis here. First off, this is a specific to that "Concrete Services" keyword. That's the most common search term. But if someone was specifically looking for foundation work, they might be typing in something different and you might be ranking a little higher. You're probably seeing a lot of red on this map and that's not ideal.

But we can definitely work with what we're looking at right now and I'll show you how. And to show you how, we think about moving up the ranks on a Heat Map. I'm going to talk about three layers and these relate to that normal Google search we were just talking about. Layer 1 would be 1 through 3 because that is that map pack that's going to give you the most amount of calls.

So, it's our target it's that top level. Then, we've got where you're at which is this level 2, where we're in single-digit yellows and that means that you're below the fold but you're still on that first page. So, your- there's a big drop-off in call volume from 3 to 4 but 4 to 10 is pretty comparable in that lower tier.

There's not a big difference between being an 8, and being a 6, being a 4, because people have already chosen to unveil the entire list of phone numbers. So, they're most likely going to go down that list and just keep scrolling until they hit another roadblock. So, this would be your level 2 zone.

And then, these red ones I mentioned are that level 3 where we really want to avoid. Because you're on that second page, there's a very, very slim chance that people are going to keep clicking on page 2, 3 to call all of those companies. Just because most people can only really handle about 10 bids, or 10 offers, or 10 prospective companies, you know?

You can imagine maybe 3 of those 10 aren't gonna pick up, and you know? Only 4 are going to get back to you with bids in your budget and then that's kind of process of you have to shoot for a big volume. And then, it slowly gets chopped down. I'm sure you're aware of that as a business owner.

So that's a quick overview of where you're at for this "Concrete Services Near Me" term in Springfield Illinois. Next, I want to take a look at someone else's Heat Map. This is one of the top competition. And if we think back to that level concept, we've got essentially all of these are in level 1, or level 2, which is awesome place to be because you're generating calls.

Anyway, you slice it. You're not getting buried underneath a lot of other businesses here. We've kind of got a patch that is still level 2 in this single-digit but you can imagine that these 4's and 5's are really close to getting flipped up into that map pack where we can really dominate the entire space. So, imagine how your business would change.

If we can get all of these reds, it's going to take time but flip them up into this nice yellow and green and you're probably wondering where Steady Calls my company fits in. At Steady Calls, we service your Google My Business Listing to remind Google who the concrete kings are in a specific area.

You can think of Google as a forgetful spouse that needs consistent reminders to keep what's important on the top of their mind. I know I'm not the biggest fan of social events. I need that consistent reminder whether it's a sticky note at the office or a text throughout the day, just to get me to take action on what is important and Google is the same way.

At Steady Calls, we go into each one of these locations on the web and post the equivalent of sticky notes to remind Google of who is important when it comes to concrete in this specific area. So, near Spaulding, Riverton, those hyper-local areas. We can get Google to associate specific GMB's with concrete and there's a couple different techniques that we can get into.

But that's the broad brushstrokes of how we can kind of change these number 4's into number 3's, and change the double digits into single digits, and really dominate the space, and make sure that we're maximizing the opportunity that's available. We want that phone number out in front of as many people as possible.

Thanks so much for your time. If you'd like to take a look at your own Heat Map, it's linked below.
